Tones Of Home - 05 Is It Love

Is It Love

The great escape was close enough for you to fear
That you were nowhere near the way out again

Straight and narrow,
A solid line,
That stretches back to you.
Whatever you might think of me,
I never locked that door.

A cherished phrase to you so dear that you’ve outgrown
You held it close but it just blew away

Straight and narrow,
A solid line,
That stretches back to you.
Whatever you might think of me,
I never locked that door.

Fall for your answers,
And you’ll never get caught.
It’s just another reflection
That’s tearing down your wall.
Yes I’ve seen it,
And I’ll just pass it by.
Or is it love?

Tones Of Home - 06 Back Seat

Back Seat

I started shaking in the back seat
I just couldn’t look out
The bells were ringing
Into the night
Everything looked so familiar
Though I’d been away for years
But oh please forgive me
I just can’t stay

I know you’ve tried
So hard to make things right
But I can’t take no more
What this place has got in store
‘Cause everywhere you turn there’s someone dragging you right down

Turn back the clock
To when we used to meet at the park
Round about midnight
When we felt safe
We danced around the ruins
Till you said “Nothing’s wrong,
What are you scared of?
You’ve got your dreams”

Throw the dice
And play back “Summertime”
So I don’t have to take a stand
While you figure out your plans
I never thought they’d work out
And I could never quite see it
The light that burned around you
While we stayed awake in someone else’s place

Sing me back to sleep
So I can lose the keys
And stop to pretend that your life is going out of hand
You keep looking backwards when your mind is moving forward
You know it’s all gone for good and I won’t take it back,
Well ain’t this true
Love?

Tones Of Home - 07 Love

Love

Somewhere, in a street
You’re staring back at me
And I’ll never know how hard you tried

To recapture that moment
When you felt like you had found

Love

Slip away
To the far end of the reel
Where you set off free
You’re not locked up anymore

The lights go down
While I watch you dance away
All the nights that killed you slowly
The broken tales of fading trust and

Love

The closing tune is playing but I’m not leaving
I’m not going anywhere
I’ll be waiting for you

Tones Of Home - 08 Sunday

Sunday

Sunday
Without warnings
The edges cut off
And we fell down with you

Dressed up with your ball and chain and waiting for the call
Waiting the right words

Sunday,
We stopped worrying
You played a bad trick
And we fell right for you

Locked up in the waiting line, and selling every move
Hiding from our view

Velvet signs of red
Velvet signs of red
While you steal the lives you fake

Sunday,
Came with no grace
Your words in the shade
Your lies down in your grave

Velvet signs of red
Velvet signs of red
While you steal the lives you fake

Tones Of Home - 09 Wherever

Wherever

Wherever you’ll go
Wherever you’ll be
I’ll never forget how you’ve made me feel

May these alleyways burn
May these staircases fall
I’ll never get lost again

Put me in the back seat
And drive me out of town
So I can leave behind
All the roads that keep me away from you
